Wednesday 4th August 2010 at 1000 for 1015 - Richard Tinson (01483 222648)(mobile ???) is kindly leading us on a circa 5 miles ramble starting from the Car Park at Newlands Corner on the A25 Shere Road about one mile from Guildford..

Directions: From Guildford take the A3 East past Guildford. Take the slip road into Send, turn right at the roundabout. Follow the A247 through West Clandon, then cross straight over and follow the A25 up to Newlands Corner on the right at the top.

The walk follows the Albury Geology Trail, walking to and around Albury, returning via the Silent  Pool and the North Downs Way. Within a couple of hours, we will see the evidence of twenty million years of geological history. Subject to confirmation, the Newlands Corner Hotel is a good place to retire to afterwards.


Friday 13th August 2010 - 5 miles and 10 miles walks John Richards (01252 321186) (mobile 07910531086) is leading a 9/10 mile linear walk starting south of Chichester to Selsey Bill, returning to the Chichester area by bus with the option for any members, who wish to come and walk the first 5 miles, and then continue by bus to Selsey, meeting up with the others later in the afternoon.

Meet in the car park opposite Victoria Village Hall Ash at 0930 to share cars and leave for Chichester. Should any members wish to go direct to Chichester please contact John at the above number for details. Don’t forget your bus pass.
There are no hills on this walk, but a few stiles. Passing through open fields with wild flowers, changing scenery and wild life. Finishing the walk with a cup of tea or ice cream.


Wednesday 18th August 2010 at 10:00 for 10:15 Bill and Joyce Stone (01252 310616) (mobile 07940 654616) 5 1/2 miles walk starting at the Frensham Pond visitors’ centre Car Park

Directions: Take the A31 Farnham bypass in the Alton direction.  Turn L at the traffic lights and then R to pass in front of the railway station.  Follow the road past the tyre and exhaust depot and alongside the railway.  At the T junction turn L to pass over the railway bridge and continue for approximately 4 miles until reaching Frensham village school.  Take the R fork just past the school and look out for the Frensham Great Pond visitors’ centre sign on the left, after approximately 0.5 mile.  The proposed optional lunch venue is the Holly Bush in Frensham (although this had not been checked out at time of writing).
