Outing to Whitchurch on the 8th April
The social history group enjoyed a fascinating visit to the Whitchurch Silk Mill on April 8th. The guide who took us round was a descendent of the family who bought the mill in the 1860s and began silk production there. He was extremely knowledgeable and was able to show us the processes and explain all about the different types of silk.
Afterwards there was time to have a look at the pretty little town of Whitchurch and for an ice cream in the sun.
