Helga has organised two more visits to this theatre in the coming months. These are:
"Calendar Girls" - a dramatisation of the activities of a group of members of a WI to raise funds for the treatment of the husband of a member of their group with a terminal illness: their chosen method was to get produced and sell a calendar of themselves. This was made into a sucessful film and has now been adapted by the author into a stage play.
Helga has already received some expressions of interest in seeing this production but more names are required in order that the visit can take place. The cast includes such names as Lynda Bellingham, Patricia Hodge and Sian Phillips.
The performance, for which a group of tickets has been provisionally booked, is the matinee on the 25th February 2009 starting at 2.30. Tickets will cost £23.00 and must be paid for by the 3rd January.
A second offering is to see the musical "Singing in the Rain" and the date chosen for it is the matinee on the 6th May 2009: tickets for this will cost £15.00 to be paid for by the 25th Feb 2009. I'm not sure how much water there will be 'on stage' but perhaps a front row seat should not be sought!
